Leslie Visser began as a sportswriter for the Boston Globe in 1974. She was the first female beat writer in 1976 covering the New England Patriots, "first female Superbowl sideline reporter, and first female NFL broadcast analyst (Sobel 2001)" (Grubb & Elliot, 2010). She "joined CBS in 1984 as part-time reporter and in 2006, she was inducted into the media section of the Football Hall of Fame.Title IX changed her career" (Mead, 2010).


Visser is also the only sportscaster in history, to have worked on the Final Four, NBA Finals, World Series, Monday Night Football, the Super Bowl, the Olympics and the U.S. Open network broadcasts (Mead, 2010).
