My name is Giselle Hernandez and I am currently a Graduate student obtaining my Masters in Forensic Psychology at John Jay College of Criminal Justice in New York. I am an alumna of Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey-New Brunswick. I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Sports Journalism and Media studies, and a minor in Gender and Media.

This website was originally intended and created for my Capstone project in relation to my minor in Gender and Media. It reflects a brief history of women in the sports broadcasting industry and where we are now and can be in the future. Because I am passionate about sports and the impact that sexism, misogyny, and discrimination based on gender and race has not only on our society but women, my focus was to outline the barriers women have overcome, and the ones they still have to--all while highlighting achievements.

Being a Latina, first generation student, I aspired to become an NBA Analyst. Sports has been a MAJOR part of my life from a young child. And of course, I have always enjoyed writing. However, I decided to pursue Forensic Psychology in the hopes of being able to help victims of crime and understand the criminal justice system more in depth. My hope is to one day help victims of false confessions and police coercion.

I decided to re-spark my love for writing and sports. It is something I have not done in quite a few years. Therefore, I am now dedicating this website to one of my favorite hobbies and one of my first adorations.
